I'm a second generation Mexican American with both my Grandpas being born in Mexico, although my grandpa on my mom's side received his citizenship at the age of 55! Back then there were no borders so traveling back and forth was super easy, especially for those who would travel for work. That was the case for my Great Grandma who was born in the United States but had my grandpa in Mexico! Our roots run mainly through the Chihuahua area of Mexico, specifically Ojinaga. On my paternal side, my great-great-great grandfather even helped raise horses in the mountains for Pancho Villa whereas on my maternal side, my great-great-great grandfather helped establish Fort Stockton, TX! I love hearing our family history and seeing how our traditions and culture stem from generation to generation! I love being a Latina because lets face it, we have amazing food, music, traditions and hold our family values so close to heart! These are the same values I'll teach my future children! Latinos dream big dreams but we also fight to make them a reality. Growing up my dad always told me I had two strikes coming into this world, I'm a woman and I'm Mexican-American, which means I have to work twice as hard to accomplish my dreams. I'm happy to say those words always stuck to me and I've accomplished almost all the goals I've created for myself! I'm graduating in a couple of months with my degree in Business Management, I moved hours away from my family and hometown to continue growing my career and currently work in operations for a major telecommunications company. My passion, drive, love for Latin music and dancing and work ethic all comes from my roots and I know I would not be the person I am today without my family and our cultural traditions!
